All A Twitter Over Twitter
A Luncheon Eat & Tweet
Social media phenomenon Twitter gets credit for everything from escalating Domino Pizza's PR crisis to aiding and abetting civil unrest in Moldova. Many of us are on Twitter, but do we really know what we're doing?

Join IABC/Charlotte for a hands-on "Eat & Tweet" session with Chris Harrington, technology director for Charlotte-based communications agency LGA and creator of the "Vote Woz" campaign that made national headlines -- and kept Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak "Dancing with the Stars" on TV this spring.

Whether you're just getting started with Twitter or want to know more about it, this program is for you. For more details and registration, go to http://www.ciabc.com/

Meet Susanne Griffing
Susanne Griffing joined IABC/Charlotte in 2008 and soon started volunteering with the organization. She is now vice president of Member Services for 2009-2010.
Susanne Griffing
What is a brief history of your career?
I have been a small-business owner in the past and was in the travel industry for nearly 15 years. I changed careers to nonprofit-industry fundraising for three years but my heart was not in fundraising. My passion is communications-related work, and it has been part of all of my previous jobs. After a long, roundabout way of getting here, I am now focusing my career in communications.
Do you think that your IABC membership has positively affected your career?
Yes. I just completed a temporary job that came through my involvement with IABC/Charlotte. I enjoyed the job immensely and hope to find a permanent position that is similar.
What do you think is the most valuable part of being an IABC/Charlotte member?
Other than the obvious benefit of learning through our monthly meetings, I like the opportunity to be around others who are working in the same field. Everyone has been so helpful in sharing information that I learn something interesting from everyone I meet.
What kind of sessions would you like IABC/Charlotte to offer?
I am interested in EVERYTHING! However, as communicators, we do need to keep up with the trends, so I would say that we need to learn more about social media and the role it plays in our jobs.
What would you say to a prospective or new member?
Get involved! This local chapter of IABC belongs to us all. We all need to pitch in to make it the best possible because we will all benefit in the end.

Milestones and More!

Dianne Chase
Amazing! Here we are at our first 'half year' anniversary of your IABC/Charlotte News and Notes and I do hope that you find benefit and interest in the content and resources we work diligently to bring you each month.

As always, we very much welcome your input, feedback and contributions, and encourage you to help us make this newsletter of true value to you.

We're also marking another milestone as we wrap up the current board year and launch into 2009-2010 with many familiar faces and some new, as well. I'll be sending out the slate of nominees for your vote via email on Thursday and look forward to your response.

Words fail to express how deeply I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful organization and to meet and work with you as we strive to make our chapter more outstanding every year. During this past term, we set as our priorities providing high caliber programs for you, increasing membership value and growing in our membership numbers. I'm grateful for the dedication and hard work of this outstanding board in seeing those goals achieved over the past year. I truly, truly thank you. It is a privilege and a pleasure to know and work with you. Join me in saying 'thanks' to: Ruth Moeller, David Coburn, Susan Shackelford, Diane Rutledge, Andrew Newsome, Natalia Russo, and Leanne Pupchek.  A huge 'Thank You' also to our News and Notes producer, Beth Griffiths.
