PRESIDENT'S PERSPECTIVE

February 2008

It is a pleasure to say ‘hello’ and take this opportunity to let you know about some exciting things going on with your Charlotte Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators.

Save The Date:
The Charlotte chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators presents the 7th annual Profitable Communications for Non-Profits
March 13, 2008
The Mint Museum of Art

This excellent interactive workshop is aimed at providing professional development for communicators working in non-profit organizations and agencies in our communities. As our annual philanthropic event, IABC/C invites all non-profit communicators to attend all sessions and lunch at no charge. We also welcome anyone working in for-profit businesses to attend the entire workshop for a modest fee of $50.00 or come for the outstanding luncheon and program at our normal prices for members and non-members. We are extremely pleased to have as our special luncheon speaker the Regional Director of the United Negro College Fund for NC and VA, Marilyn Richards. Ms. Richards created the signature annual UNCF event featuring Maya Angelou along with numerous additional accomplishments including the Pastors’ Million-Dollar Challenge.

You’ll soon be receiving an official e-mail invitation but please mark your calendars now:

Date:  Thursday, March 13, 2008
Workshop: 9:00am- 11:30am

Great Opportunities to Get Involved with YOUR IABC Chapter
Did you join IABC for the networking opportunities? If so, you should know that the best way to network is by volunteering with us. Working alongside other IABC volunteers, you'll:

  • Build and strengthen relationships with other members
  • Develop skills and possibly build experience in areas you might not be able to in your paying job
  • Demonstrate your commitment to IABC and the profession

We have several interesting and exciting areas for you to become involved with IABC/Charlotte this year, including the revamping of our annual Crown Awards event which we are planning to re-launch next year and the start of our new chapter e-newsletter which we’re working on right now.

I encourage you to join us in our activities and efforts in any capacity you can!

To find out about volunteer opportunities please feel free to contact me at chase@c4cs.com or 704-366-6600. I look forward to seeing you at IABC/Charlotte and here’s to a great 2008!

Best regards,

Dianne
